Trial of the Endless Trial - Final Part

I did quite a lot of things with WAR since I started with the Endless Trial, all of which captured my attention fairly well, something I wasn't expecting WAR to do after seeing it's fairly standard PvE content. In the end however it did, and it did very well, I ended up inviting Alice to play it with me for abit, and it was a whole new experience even though we were doing the same quests that I had done on multiple characters.

When we set off into WAR, I created a Dark Elf Blackguard as I wanted to try out more of the tanking aspects of WAR, and she was a Dark Elf Sorcerer. We went across the questing areas fairly until we got to the first public quest, this didn't go quite as planned as the first thing we got there in the middle of a ongoing session and I didn't have a lot of time to prepare her for it. Furthermore when we were on the last stage of the quest it was then I realized that the very first public quest is a normal difficulty rated quest, and we were playing late at night, meaning a lot of people weren't on, infact it was just us and someone else who didn't help until we had died, which didn't really work out for them in the end anyway. We were able to get the chaos beast down to about a third of it's health reliably but after that I would have used a potion, and a shield potion by then, leaving almost nothing to last on except luck, on more than one occasion we had tried to kite the beast around, only to find out that it was able to use snares. Finally another Chaos sorcerer came to the area about 3 minutes before it was over, and with his help we managed to beat the beast, it was quite a exhausting battle but it felt good especially since it was her first public quest, and it would have been a huge bummer if it ended up with it expiring.

Afterwards we did the quests leading up to the second quest hub, we ended up saving the public quest for the last thing we did before we moved on for anticipation. As a side note it became very apparent during these quests, and the first public quest that I was not able to hold aggro well even with spamming the threat strike and nothing but it, this makes a lot more sense because of an ability I got later on, but it regulated me to being a low DPS in the mean time, with some tanking. The second public quest was a much more normal experience since players were actually around. I wasn't able to hold aggro on the final stage boss and it resulted it him being snared a lot, while I just ran around hitting him in the back and helping snare him more. We ended up scoring quite well on the contribution scores, and her first reward actually was a golden bag, which to our dismay isn't eligible to be opened by trial accounts. In any case, we did that a few more times mainly for xp, and then moved onto the main war camp and joined a scenario queue on the way.

To make up for the disappointment of the first public quest, the first scenario we did was quite relieving, it was Nordenwatch again like mine was, and unlike mine, it resulted in a fairly easy Destruction victory. I was able to see more of how the Dark Elf Blackguard performs in PvP combat as well, it seems like it's a more offensive oriented tank class, relying on generating “hatred” by being hit, to activate abilities that for the most part do damage, a few also heal, and protect the Blackguard, for the most part however a lot of the abilities were directed towards either just doing direct damage, or debuffing casters, which makes sense since according to it's class description, Blackguards are trained to fight spell casters.

All of that leading us to ending the day crafting in the main war camp, we didn't quest in the Chaos Chapter 3 areas yet, or go into the RvR zone, however it is just in general a lot more fun to play with someone than playing alone.

I also think that'll wrap up my sections of WAR in the blog unless I decide to subscribe to it, which is kind of half and half right now in the deciding factor. Until then, see you until the next post, and I hope you enjoyed reading even one sentence of this experience.

A few things that I discovered after writing sections of ToteT :

-Order has class counterparts to most if not all of the classes on Destruction, they all have different themes, and sometimes different specialties, but for the most part, all of their abilities are the same. The distinction is a bit weird at times; for example : The Dwarf Slayer, and The Orc Choppa are pretty much the exact same class, they have the same mechanic, and the abilities they do are identical. However the Dwarf Iron Breaker, and the Dark Elf Blackguard also have the same mechanic, but their class abilities differ very slightly, for example both classes have an ability to mark an allied player as a protected target, and they grant buffs to that player depending on the abilities they do, the first few abilities a Iron Breaker gets grants buffs to that target that the Blackguard does not apply.

So in general while this way makes sense for a balance reason, it still keeps the same unique feeling for most classes, and all of them are extremely different in appearance that it might be considered by a minor fact by some, but still a major fact for others.

-Players aren't able to trade while on trial accounts (which is super lame)

-Killing something in a public quest only seems to count in contribution if you're in the group that tagged it, you do however receive xp, and influence for doing damage to it regardless of if you tagged it or not.
